Dead Man's Walk

Pocket Books, 1965

Three dead and Shell Scott to go...It was a charming island like the travel poster said: white beaches, blues lagoons, and exotic girls in bikinis.

Plenty of local color, too. Like three dead bodies and a voodoo priest who sticks pins in dolls and waits for you to die.

Superstition, I persuaded myself. Still there were those three stiffs. And nobody could determine the cause of their deaths.

So I decided to poke around the native haunts with my luscious companion. Then the gorgeous tomato vanished and I found myself with another kind of doll. It looked just like me - and it had a long needle stuck through the heart!
